a noninclusive list of reasons why I'm happy right now

I'm on a business trip, which means that I get lots of free time to do whatever I want.

Contrary to my expectations, I'm staying in the beautiful Magnolia instead of the stupid Sheraton where we usually stay. I'm in a cute little pocket-sized room where everything is within easy reach, and I get, for free, wireless internet access, breakfast, fabulous smelling shampoo and other stuff, and, best of all, chocolate milk and cookies at bedtime. Also, the doormen here are much friendlier than at the Sheraton. I love this hotel.

I've got my laptop and a good selection of movies to entertain myself with, so I don't have to resort to watching 5000 episodes of Law & Order like I usually do on business trips. (There's not much on TV when we get done with work around 2 in the afternoon.)

I absolutely love my new haircut. Every time I look in the mirror I feel happy that my looks aren't breaking the glass any more.

Despite missing the freeway exit yesterday, I managed to make it to the airport on time, and we arrived here at the scheduled time with all of our luggage. I didn't even have water dripping on me during landing. So it was a pretty good day of travel.

Rosie is going to be returning Jab We Met to me on Sunday, so I can watch it again. (Hint hint, Rosie.)

I received no compensation from the Magnolia for this blog entry. Just in case you were wondering.

Okay, okay.

I'm pleased to hear that you are having a successful travel experience. I won't wish any misadventures on you just for the selfish desire to hear another good story.

And, I just found a ring of speed on Moria. Seriously, could life get any better?

That last comment I was like- ring of speed? the drug? And then I read the rest. I'm glad you're having a good trip.

I guess I should have said "+1 Ring of Speed." That might have been more clear.

Are you going to post a picture of your new haircut for those of us who live too far away to see it?

I need to find a Ring of Speed, or some sort of footwear of speed or something. My Moria character has maxed out his stats, nice armor, etc. He just needs to pick up the pace a little. That would help a lot.

On a related topic some Moria phrases must sound a bit funny to some people. You bloat from overeating, slow, slow, slow . . .

We played Munchkin at our Elders Quorum Social on Friday, it was fun. I got the "Broad Sword", usable by a female only, naturally, and Meg got the "Gentlemen's Club", usable by a male only, so we traded.

We have had good experiences with the Residence Inn while traveling. No cookies and chocolate milk in the evening, but sometimes they do have a "Manager's Reception" in the evening with a bite of food. They also have fridges and something to cook on.

Here's another reason to be happy: I just made a comment on your blog!

Hurray! I'm so happy you commented!

The Ring of Speed helps immeasurably, especially with Ancient Dragons and Death Quasits. (Of course, my last guy who found a Ring of Speed ended up being killed by an Ancient Multi-hued Dragon, so I have to be careful not to get overly confident.)

The Moria word I thought was really weird the first time I watched you play was mana.

We don't pick where we stay -- the powers that be decide for us -- so I was happy to end up at the Magnolia.

I do have one correction to my original post -- we usually stay at the Westin, not the Sheraton. We only stayed at the Sheraton when we were in Oklahoma.

And speaking of happy, happy belated birthday, Todorojo.

Hopefully you didn't have a younger sibling get married a few days before your birthday, just to make you feel extra old. Not that I'm speaking from experience or anything.

My Moria character finally found a Ring of Speed (actually he must have previously found some of the unhelpful cursed ones because he knew what it was). Now that he goes faster the game might be a lot easier (except for AMHD and the like).
