compliments from the old person

Yesterday when the old person and I were at Walmart, looking for the 100th time at the bin of cheap DVDs, I saw two girls in my ward. Both of these girls, I must add, are older than I am. However, the old person was shocked when I told her that they lived in my apartment complex. "They do! But you look so much older than them." Pause. "Not that you look old. I think that it's because they're so tiny." Pause. "Not that you look fat. It's just that you're, um, tall, and um, womanly."

Nice recovery there, old person.

I think I might use that as my next pickup line. "You're so tall and womanly. Would you go out with me?"

What does make a person look older?

Good luck with that pickup line. Let me know how it goes.

I think you'll find that it's most effective if you pause before saying "tall" and "womanly," so that the girl know that you're trying to come up with the most diplomatic terms possible.

Apparently, being fat makes you look older. Actually, I know that's the Old Person's philosophy, because she always gets annoyed at stores selling "teenager clothing," which she defines as anything below size 2X.

I always look older when I'm tired, which I usually am when I'm shopping. That's probably why the Old Person thinks I look old. Also, that's probably why she informed the volunteer organization that I seem to have some kind of terminal heart disease.

Cindy I would call you womanly, but I would never call you tall! ;)

I didn't know you have terminal heart disease, Cindy. How come nobody ever tells me anything?
